My Word For This Year: Impact.

Eeek, you guys- I'm so excited that my book has officially launched! It's been such a journey to write & publish my first book not to mention a roller coaster of emotions. Writing a book has been a dream of mine for such a long time and to actually hold a physical copy in my own two hands is unlike anything I've ever experienced before.

I do this thing every year where I choose a word at the beginning of each year, sort of like a New Years resolution type deal but a little bit simpler... The purpose of choosing a word at the beginning of the year is to have something quick and simple to reference as you navigate life throughout that year that keeps you accountable and most importantly reminds you of what you're striving for. It sets your year up with intention and purpose which ultimately leads to true happiness and fulfillment.

Selecting a word for the year is so much more than just your average New Years resolution. This year, I chose the word:

Impact.

I feel like I took that word to the extreme by writing my first book (The Million Dollar Bakery), starting my podcast (Scrap The Sweet Talk) & putting my life and self out there on video for all to see. I'd hoped that by me doing all these things that I'd have some kind of impact on a few people, but the volume of DM's & e-mails I've received from people all over who have found my work & story inspiring and impactful has far surpassed any hope, dream or expectation that I had.

I'm an introvert to the extreme so all of those things were a gigantic leap far far, far away from my comfort zone. I literally have lost sight of my comfort zone and to be honest, nothing about this year felt remotely comfortable at any point. I pushed myself further & harder than I'd ever imagined possible.

And, can I tell you something?

It's changed me. Significantly. For the better.

I've gained confidence in things I'd never thought I'd ever be truly confident in- speaking, videos, socializing at large gatherings and making new friends. It's like I'm living a whole new life as this whole new person and I'm honestly loving it. I feel more alive than ever before.

Want to know the best part about it?

All of those things I had originally feared doing- sharing my vulnerable stories, speaking freely in videos and podcasts and meeting strangers at networking events, they've all snuck their way into my comfort zone. They are my new comfort zone. Yep- all the uncomfortable things I once dreaded and avoided have snuck their way into my new version of my comfort zone. They've all become comfortable. Something I never thought would be possible. So now that all those things have become comfortable, it's time to push the envelope even further & find new ways to push those boundaries.

This is how you grow. This is how you become the best version of yourself.

By proving that you can do all the hard things you never thought were possible and proving yourself wrong.

I encourage you to choose a word for the year or even a new word every month and live it up to the extreme. Embrace the word & become the word. There's something profoundly impactful by pushing ourselves to become the new & improved versions of ourselves and watching your life come alive.

Share your word with me on social media, I'd love to hear about it:
